ABOUT

Why Meridian exists, the principles that guide us, and how the collective works.

A network of seasoned, independent practitioners who assemble as one team around what each client actually needs.

WHY WE FORMED

Built from shared practice, trust, and a belief that the work is better done together.

Meridian Collective began with a shared vision: to close the gap between where resources sit and where they're needed most.

We met through the Just Economy Institute in 2024–2025, as a cohort of practitioners across philanthropy, impact investing, and community development, many of us at similar crossroads: consulting, but doing it alone. Over that year, we found something we didn't expect: real trust, complementary skills, and a shared belief that this work is better done together than alone.

Between us, we've worked inside and alongside every kind of institution: foundations and family offices, nonprofits and government agencies, academia, mission-driven businesses and philanthropic funds, and more. Our backgrounds and expertise span the globe, with experience across the US, Latin America, East Africa, and Asia. We also bring experience across sectors, from health and education, economic development, conservation and community finance. We're also a mix of thinking and communication styles.

Across all of this, we kept seeing the same thing: changemakers and teams with real vision and capability, working hard to serve their missions, but stretched too thin and under-resourced to do it well. We'd each been trying to help, one client at a time, as individual consultants. We realized we could serve our clients' missions better, not just our own, by doing this work in collaboration.

So we built a collective that draws on the full range of the members' expertise and assembles the right team for what each client actually needs, rather than working in isolation or handing clients off to whoever's available. It gives clients the benefit of a team's full range, not just one person's bandwidth, and gives us thought partnership as we build strategy and solve problems alongside them. When needed, we also draw on a broader network of trusted, values-aligned experts who complement our collective's expertise.

This breadth and depth is by design. It's what lets us build the right team for each client, rather than offer one-size-fits-all advice.

HOW WE WORK

A collective built for clients

We work alongside our clients where we are most needed, either as long-term strategists or through shorter-term, defined engagements. However the engagement is structured, we begin the same way - aligning on values and goals first, then building the right approach from there.

Every engagement starts with a deep dive into your current needs, the work ahead, and the specific expertise and combination of skills required to move it forward. Many of the challenges our clients face are interconnected, requiring support across strategy, capital, leadership, partnerships, and implementation. Rather than applying a predefined scope or methodology, we assess each client's context and goals to define the work and build an engagement that fits the challenge.

From there, we look inward. We match each client with the practitioners on our team who bring the relevant experience, capacity, and working style for the moment. That intentional matchmaking ensures our clients receive support that feels tailored rather than templated.

While you benefit from the depth of a collective, you will always have a dedicated project lead as your consistent point of contact, someone who knows your work inside and out from start to finish. Depending on project scope, most engagements also bring in one to three additional specialists working alongside that lead, to give a deep bench of expertise on demand without the limits of a single person's time and knowledge.

Along the way, that means you are never carrying the work alone. You have thought partners who show up prepared, ask sharper questions, and push your thinking further than a single advisor could.

The result is more than a deliverable. You will have a strategy and relationships that hold up under real conditions, a team that understands your work well enough to shape it with you, and the confidence that comes from having the right expertise in your corner every step of the way.

We work alongside our clients where we are most needed: either as long-term strategists or on shorter-term, defined engagements.
