“The world changes according to the way people see it.” — James Baldwin

Sarah Christiano is a strategic communications consultant who believes that strong storytelling can show people what's possible — and that smart strategy turns that vision into real change.

Outside the Collective, Sarah runs Christiano Comms, an independent consultancy partnering with nonprofits, foundations, and social enterprises advancing economic justice. She serves as both thought partner and day-to-day communications staffer, helping in-house teams sharpen their message and propel their missions forward.

Her path there began with nearly a decade of in-house and agency experience. She started her career at Fenton Communications, a political communications agency, working with national nonprofits and foundations including the Annie E. Casey Foundation, MoveOn, and the Roosevelt Institute. From there, she moved in-house — first at Equal Rights Advocates, a gender justice legal nonprofit, and later at REDF, a venture philanthropy investing in employment social enterprises.

Sarah holds a BA in Government from Georgetown University. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband, two kids, and dog, and in her free time enjoys playing tennis, reading fiction, and exploring all the natural beauty the Bay has to offer.
